You’ll Wanna Read This…

Last weekend was July 4th and while it is always one of our favorite weekends of the year, we had a little extra news to share with everyone. We wrote a letter, laminated it, cut it into 12 pieces and put one piece in each envelope. After dinner we handed everyone an envelope and let them put the puzzle pieces together to get the news. We would like to share an edited version with you now

To Our Dear Friends and Family,

We would like to start by saying thank you to everyone who has supported us during the past 17 months in our adoption journey. We know you are always curious about how it is going and we want to share with you where we are right now. For a while we have been sitting stagnant and not feeling very awesome about the progress that was (or wasn’t) being made. That was until Wednesday, July 2nd. As of that day, we are proceeding forward with the adoption of a beautiful sibling group of three. We are sorry we kept you all in the dark but we figured it was best to keep everything a secret and not get anyone’s hopes up. We have been praying hard about the meeting we had and that the workers would bring good news. God is good and they brought the best news possible… that these kids belong in our family!

So what is next? We met these kids at an adoption party several months ago so our first meeting is out of the way. We need to have 3-4 more ‘dates’ (some overnight/weekends) before they can move in forever but that will depend mostly on scheduling between us and their foster parents. Could be weeks or could be a couple months. Obviously we are hoping to get them in and settled before school starts but we all know DHS has their own timelines. From the day they move in for trial adoption we have six months to wait until we go to court and finalize. At that point they will be ours forever.

What can we tell you about them? Below is a brief bio about each of them. Quite frankly, all that matters is where they’re going, not where they’ve been and we are so happy that place is with us. They’ve been in custody for a few years and are currently in two separate homes but get to see each other often. All three kids are doing well in school, are all healthy, and don’t have any problems that the therapists and workers can see.

Agent K is an 11-year-old boy who is very intelligent and friendly. He loves video games, shopping for new Nike tennis shoes and being outside.

Lady H B is a pretty 8-year-old girl who is curious, easygoing and playful. She loves to play dress up and is always happy.

Miss D is an adorable little 7 year old who loves to please. She likes playing sports, listening to music and playing with her stuffed toys.

We’ve already begun calling the foster parents to trying to set up times to meet and go on our ‘dates’.

P.S. Did you know we can’t post pics on social media OR the blog until our six month waiting period is over? Gonna be a looooong six months 🙂

So there ya have it, our big, life-changing announcement! What a whirlwind its going to be! As you can imagine I have at least 700 other things I wanna talk about but I will stop for today and just be grateful for you, for our future kiddos, and mostly for God for allowing this to happen.

  1. I’m so excited!!!!! Praying all continues to go smoothly and that you get the “three amigos” before school starts! What a fun excuse to do some “back-to-school” shopping!

  2. So happy for you! We had the hardest time with the 6 month waiting period for photos. Thankfully, we were able to include pictures in the yearly Christmas letter. I think we waited a full 2 minutes after the Judge left the courtroom before we invited the Facebook family to meet the girls via the first cell phone shot taken after the adoption. 🙂 I found that keeping folder icons on my desktop with dates of the photos made for an easy blowup (in order) once everything was final!
